Software Carpentry Workshop

This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, programming in Python, version control and task automation in the Unix shell. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. Please understand that space is limited!
Description:
The UC Irvine Data Science Initiative is holding a two day workshop on the topic of Lab Skills for Scientific Computing by Software Carpentry Foundation on February 21-22 at Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences. Software Carpentry’s mission is to help graduate students get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing.
This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, programming in Python, version control and task automation in the Unix shell. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. Please understand that space is limited!
